Background Information - What was the America's Bicentennial Celebration? A question we get asked alot. Here are my interesting & notable notes explaining some the events of the United States of America Bicentennial of the American Revolutionary War of Independence, 1775–1783:
    • The American Revolution Bicentennial 1776-1976 was marked with many nationwide and some worldwide events in the mid-1970's. With the big events culminating on July 4, 1976, that celebrated 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence British colonial rule. The festivities were stimulated by an act of Congress, American Revolution Bicentennial Administration (ARBA) with Senator John Warner of Virginia as Director.
    • At the centennial in 1876 a common theme was the Spirit of '76, the was rekindled for the 1976 bicentennial.
    • The Liberty Bell, an American icon of freedom, was cast at Whitechapel Bell Foundry, England. In Philadelphia on July 6, 1976, Queen Elizabeth II presented a Bicentennial replica Bell on behalf of the British people. It was cast at the same foundry and bears the "For the People of the United States of America from the People of Britain 4 July 1976 LET FREEDOM RING".
    • In 1975 the American Freedom Train traveled for almost two years around the conterminous and contiguous United States of America.
    • There was a a major internation tall ship parades
    • The official logo was a stylized five-point star of red, white, & blue. It was designed by Bruce Blackburn that also helped to design NASA's logo.
