US Walking Liberty Silver Half Dollar Coin Leather BELT - 36 inches - 10 coins

  • One Leather Belt with 10 U.S. Silver Half Dollar Coins (50¢ piece) as Conchos
  • Inlaid Conchos Style on a Western Style Belt.
  • The Coins are US Mint made & hand modified into Conchos and the Leather Belt is handmade. NO Buckle is included.
  • Made in the USA
  • There's a funny pun about real coin belts When wearing the belt, it's circulated. When not wearing the belt, it's uncirculated.
  • The belt is dark brown with black lacing.
  • The coins are authentic. There were other reproductions of these belts made using fake coins. This is not one of those.
  • The traditional belt size varies on the type of buckle used and whether or not holes need to be added.
  • The belt measures approximately 36 inches long by 1.84 inches (46 mm) wide by 0.28 inch (6 mm) thick. The belt tongue (the narrow part) 1½+ inches (37-38 mm) wide. Where it folds to hold the buckle is 1.56 inches (39 mm) wide.
  • With a Western Style Belt Buckle that adds about 2½ inches it should fit a 31½ to 37 inches waist. This is very approximate. Buckle not included.
  • There are 5 holes to catch the buckle hook. The first hole is 2.6 inches from the tip. The holes are roughly less than an inch apart.
  • CONDITION: circulated coins - belt is unused old store stock - coins are used - approximately 36 inches long.
  • This belt has never been worn.
  • Coins were hand polished. It would either need more cleaning or the opposite, less cleaning to develop the nice patina that Walking Liberty's are known for.
  • Part of the process involved spot heating the coins to attach rivets to make them inlaid. The Walking Liberty coins would occasionally tone from the process, other silver coins do not. These coins would also have other problems. Other silver halves weren't as finicky as the Walking Liberty's are.

  • This belt and others like it were handmade. Redd's Leather Shop of Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California produced the belt. My Father and I acquired the coins and did the coin implants. We also made special leather working tools. Belts were sold at Knott's Berry Farm, coin dealers, and other jewelry stores throughout Southern California, Arizona, & New Mexico. We made them from about 1974 to the about 1982. Some belts were pre-made and others were custom made with specific colors, design, leatherworking, and coin choices. Lots of hours of work went into the making of each belt. I am one of the original makers.
  • Using 1980 as an estimate of when the belt was made would make it approximately 38 years old. Of course the coins are much older.
  • All of the coins are the obverse side! One can not turn coins to see the other side.
