FROM MADEIRA WITH LOVE...

Found in an estate liquidation on Madeira Island Portugal, dating from the first half of the last century.

Old chip carved wooden wall mounted holder for newspapers or letters.

Additional hand painted flowers add to the charm.

It is 13 1/2 inches wide, measures 10 inches top to bottom with the slanted panel protruding from the wall 3 inches at the top.

There are no condition issues, free of chips in the wood, losses or repairs.

I inserted a standard size playing card in one photo as a reference for size.

The family from which this came were world travelers.  Although found in Portugal, I believe its origins are either Scandinavian or Slavic.
