Vintage 1950’s Schuco Elektro Radiant 5600 “Lufthansa” Batt-Op Tin Toy in Box

Description:
Wonderful realistic depiction of a Lfthansa Douglas DC-6 passenger airplane of the period. Tin litho wings and fuselage with two on/off switches on it, it features two three-dimensional pilot figures under clear plastic cockpit, hard plastic motor housings and soft plastic propellers. It comes with steering cable and wheel and original cardboard box with inserts and illustrated label showing "Lufthansa" plane.

Plane is battery powered by two 1.5 volt "D" size batteries and it has various functions that include motors start automatically in order and one at a time in the same sequence as the real one and then speed up, plane travels about and then stops, motors shut off.

This model can be steered by remote control cable with miniature "pilots" wheel or it will drive forward on its own. 2 modes - Standard - will start up and drive until you turn it off, or Automatic - where it will perform start up, slowly gain speed, then stop and shut down engines and cycle again.

Condition:
All original and complete with small dent to right wing, marking and light scratches here and there, worn letters around switches, some oxidation around battery case lid and an old battery leak or darkened varnish into the battery case. Shortened stering cable (easy to replace.) Box shows moderate corner wear with removed old tape repair on two sides and label with minor dust soiling. Plane works properly in all its functions. Otherwise fine to very fine overall condition.
