Eagle's War  The War Diary of an Aircraft Carrier  by Peter C Smith. 1st edition, Hardback. Pubs. Crecy Books Ltd., 1995. 200 pages.

This gripping story of HMS Eagle at war is seen through the eyes of its former crew members. These eye witness accounts have been supplemented by meticulous research by the author and are further enhanced by rare photographs taken at the time, mostly from private collections. The result is both moving and informative, naval history from World War II at its best.

The book and its unclipped dustwrapper are both in very good condition but for light shelf wear and bumping to 2 corners.

Victorious  the world over  by Ray Barker. Paperback, Reprint. Pubs. Square One Publications, 1998. 219 pages.

Ray Barker, and his friend and shipmate Les Vancura, served on HMS Victorious throughout most of the Second World War. With an easy, self effacing style the author, with the help of Les's wartime diary, takes the reader through the excitement, fear, boredom and pride of life aboard this famous ship at war. This book deserves to become one of the all-time great naval classics.

Both ships took part in Operation Pedestal in 1942. This large convoy was sent into the Mediterranean in an attempt to resupply the Island of Malta. HMS Eagle was sunk during the Operation in August of that year.
