INFANTRY SOLDIER (JAPAN 1944)

EMPIRE OF JAPAN
Operation Ichi-Go was a Japanese attack on various Chinese provinces between April and December 1944, during the Second Sino-Japanese War. Its goals were to connect the railroads from the north to the south of the country to reduce transportation costs, to bring the airfields of Sichuan and Guangxi under Japanese control to prevent American bombing, and to collapse the Nationalist government of China. The Japanese soldiers who participated in this operation wore a khaki cotton shirt, the Japanese-made Type 92 helmet, a belt with various pouches, trousers to match the shirt, shin pads and metal-plated soles. Their rifle was the Type 99 with a bolt action.
