1803 Sheldon-246 TDS  “MumpsVariety”  

• Breen Die State IV. The terminal die state with a prominent cud over the STA in STATES. The “Mumps” break at the throat is fully developed beneath the jaw and expanded in size.

• Glossy Chocolate & Dark Steel Brown. Sharply Struck. Liberty is amazingly clear, providing strong devices. Minor abrasions visible in the fields. A pair of horizontal scuffs account for NGC’s details designation.

Terminal Die State, Breen State IV; Die Rarity: R6 (ONLY TWO  S-246 with rev CUD has appeared at auction over the last decade)

The first of three parings utilizing Obverse 4 and accounting for other “Mumps” varieties, this Reverse D marriage was retired with the rev rim cud (designating this coin as the "TERMINAL Die State" & highly sought after)

This S-246 would be a great addition to any “Mumps” collection or make a pleasing “bookends”set with the earliest die state & following progressions.
