Roman Cieślewicz (1930-1996) - He gained great fame, exhibited almost all over the world. He was one of the main creators of the "Polish school of posters", the most important of which was the simplicity and readability of artistic expression, the use of synthetic signs, poetic metaphors, and the abundance of means of expression. He dealt with posters, press and publishing graphics, typography, photography, photomontage and exhibitions. He was a member of the Association of Polish Visual Artists, Alliance Graphique International (AGI), International Center for the Typographic Arts.
In the years 1943-1946 he attended the School of Artistic Industry in Lviv. After the war, he studied at the High School of Fine Arts in Krakow, graduating in 1949, then studied at the poster department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. After graduating (1955), he moved to Warsaw. In the years 1959-1962 he was the artistic director of the monthly "Ty i Ja". From 1963 abroad: in the Federal Republic of Germany, Italy, France. In 1971 he received French citizenship.
He was the artistic director of the weekly "Elle", collaborated with "Vogue" magazine and the Panique group founded by Roland Topor. In the early 1980s, he designed the decoration of the French Parliament building to commemorate the French Revolution and decorated the Parisian town hall on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of de Gaulle's birth. After the death of his wife (Alina Szapocznikow, sculptor, died in 1973), he achieved his greatest successes - designing catalogs and posters for prestigious exhibitions at the Pompidou Center (including Paris-Berlin, Paris-Moscow). In 1994, he came to the country for the last time on the occasion of an exhibition of his works at the Zachęta Gallery in Warsaw.
He had over a hundred individual exhibitions of graphics, photomontage, posters and photography. He took part in many poster art presentations around the world.

Roman Cieślewicz (1930-1996) - Il a acquis une grande renommée et a exposé presque partout dans le monde. Il fut l'un des principaux créateurs de « l'école polonaise de l'affiche », dont les plus importants étaient la simplicité et la lisibilité de l'expression artistique, l'utilisation de signes synthétiques, de métaphores poétiques et l'abondance des moyens d'expression. Il s'occupe d'affiches, de graphisme de presse et d'édition, de typographie, de photographie, de photomontage et d'expositions. Il était membre de l'Association des artistes visuels polonais, Alliance Graphique International (AGI), Centre international des arts typographiques.
Dans les années 1943-1946, il fréquente l’École de l’industrie artistique de Lviv. Après la guerre, il étudie à l'Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Cracovie dont il sort diplômé en 1949, puis étudie au département d'affiches de l'Académie des Beaux-Arts de Cracovie. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme (1955), il s'installe à Varsovie. Dans les années 1959-1962, il fut directeur artistique du mensuel "Ty i Ja". À partir de 1963 à l'étranger : en République fédérale d'Allemagne, en Italie, en France. En 1971, il obtient la nationalité française.
Il a été directeur artistique de l'hebdomadaire "Elle", a collaboré avec le magazine "Vogue" et le groupe Panique fondé par Roland Topor. Au début des années 1980, il conçoit la décoration du Parlement français pour commémorer la Révolution française et décore l'hôtel de ville parisien à l'occasion du 100e anniversaire de la naissance de de Gaulle. Après la mort de sa femme (Alina Szapocznikow, sculpteur, décédée en 1973), il obtient ses plus grands succès en concevant des catalogues et des affiches pour des expositions prestigieuses au Centre Pompidou (notamment Paris-Berlin, Paris-Moscou). En 1994, il vient pour la dernière fois dans le pays à l'occasion d'une exposition de ses œuvres à la galerie Zachęta de Varsovie.
Il a réalisé plus d'une centaine d'expositions individuelles de graphisme, de photomontages, d'affiches et de photographies. Il a participé à de nombreuses présentations d'affiches à travers le monde.
