This stunning antique wood corner shelf made in the Eastlake
style features Victorian gothic or geometric art deco black and brown patterns.
I have not found anything exactly the same in my research,
but it is similar to other 1880s antique Victorian Eastlake shelves
It is 26” tall x 9.75” Deep on each side at the widest middle
shelf and 8.25” deep on each side of the top and bottom shell.
Unboxed is 4 pounds
All shelfs have # impressed in the wood # 889, and one panel
#8. Made of solid Mahogany wood
Appropriate wear for an antique older than 100 years. There are some scratches, natural knots, one chip, wood, two holes at the top for hanging, and repair on the center shelf. Please view and zoom on all pictures for more details as they are part of the description.
NOTE: The Eastlake movement was a
nineteenth-century architectural and household design reform movement started
by British architect and writer Charles Eastlake (1836–1906). The movement is
generally considered part of the late Victorian period in terms of broad
antique furniture designations.
The Eastlake style is simpler than the earlier flamboyant
Victorian designs. The lines are more geometric, with modest curves if any and
light carving.
I DO MY BEST TO DESCRIBE EVERY LISTING BUT I AM NOT AN
EXPERT AND ITEMS ARE SOLD “AS IS”. My idea of great/good may
be different than yours, so EXAMINE PHOTOS CAREFULLY since
they are binding and a supplement to the word description in case I should
miss something. If I fail to mention something, it does not qualify as
“item not as described” if it shows in my pictures. EACH PHOTO IS WORTH A
THOUSAND WORDS AND THEY ARE OF THE EXACT ITEM YOU WILL RECEIVE.
