Excellent condition Original HP Chromeboxes.

These mini-computers have had the write protection removed and flashed with a custom firmware. Allowing for hardware upgrades, faster operation and the installation of almost any operating system.

They are very capable devices which work great as mini-servers or desktop computers.

If you purchase the item as stock with Chrome OS it will not have a custom firmware installed.

Chrome OS will only work with the specific firmware from Google. It may be possible to install ChromeOS flex with custom firmware but I haven't attempted to do so. The Chrome OS version installed on these devices will be the last official supported version which at this point is out of date but still works quite well.

The compact design hardware is extremely capable with dual monitor capability. (HDMI and Displayport) Fast Ethernet, Wifi and Bluetooth. Connect almost any peripheral with USB3 and expand your storage with a built-in SD card reader.

Installing a fully featured operating system truly unlocks the potential of these well designed, low power, and lightweight computers.

All systems come with the original power adapter.

Even the 2GB model works very well with Linux for most tasks. These make excellent headless servers for running web servers or printer servers or to connect any other hardware, for dedicated installation.

Windows 10 is a slimmed down version that will remove bloat and works very well on these devices for basic usage.

Android X86 allows you to run most apps as you would on a phone or tablet, but in hardware intensive apps the performance may not be great. Also not all Apps are available in X86 Versions. Many apps not in the playstore can however be sideloaded from a variety of sources. Older versions of common apps may also offer improved performance.

Pairing a ChromeBox with an Bluetooth or USB Remote Control will allow you to run an excellent HTPC.

Choose LibreELEC(Kodi) for a full blown media center experience.

The ChromeBox is also excellent for running emulators and you can install RetroELEC to include many emulators. In my experience everything up to PS2 is emulated wonderfully on these devices. Any of the other OS installations can have individual emulators installed as well generally.

PS2 Emulator performance may require settings adjustments or be sluggish depending on the game.

Emulating things like NES, SNES, SEGA, etc are great.

Cosmetic appearance may vary, some may have remnants of tapes or writing but I will try to clean each device as much as possible. If you have questions or want a different / specific OS installed please contact me.
