The obverse of the coin depicts the small State Coat of Arms of Ukraine, the year of minting is 2016 at the bottom, framed by the Old Russian ornament in three lines of the inscription: UKRAINE/1/HRYVNYA, as well as the logo of the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.

The reverse of the coin features a stylized composition: a one-hryvnia coin against a background of one-hryvnia banknotes and the inscriptions: MONETARY REFORM IN UKRAINE (in a semicircle at the top), 20/YEAR and the hryvnia sign ₴ (at the bottom).
