Antique Pocket Watch, Niel, Silver 800. Remontoir Cylindre 10 Rubis. #95238

Diameter: 32 mm. ( 1.25 in )

Mechanism diameter: 25 mm ( 0.98 in )

The watch case was made by Huguenin Freres (HF in a shield) of Le Locle, Switzerland. NIEL refers to a case with Niello decoration, a popular decorative technique of the Art Nouveau period, which would tie-in with the style of the watch. Niello silver cases are typically made with relieved designs colored with a chemical oxidation. This oxidation may appear to be tarnish or dirt today, but it was originally part of the design.

The .800 would be the silver content, and that's a standard for European (including German) cases. The crescent moon and crown stamping is a post-1886 German proofmark for imported silver.

This item will be shipped USPS Ground Advantage, Insured, Signature Required. A $10.00 handling charge will be added to cover these additional expenses.
