This is a rare August 24th, 1939 "Showplace" program (playbill) from the World Premiere screening of the RKO Radio Pictures' film "FIFTH AVENUE GIRL" at New York's Radio City Music Hall, "The Showplace of the Nation". (The movie premiered at the Radio City Music Hall on August 25th, 1939. The film was released nationwide on September 22nd, 1939.) ..... The motion picture starred GINGER ROGERS and featured WALTER CONNOLLY, VERREE TEASDALE, JAMES ELLISON, TIM HOLT, KATHRYN ADAMS, FRANKLIN PANGBORN, LOUIS CALHERN, FERIKE BOROS and THEODOR VON ELTZ ..... CREDITS: Screenplay by ALLAN SCOTT and MORRIE RYSKIND; Music composed by ROBERT RUSSELL BENNETT; Produced and Directed by GREGORY LA CAVA ..... DETAILS: The twelve page playbill measures 6 3/4" X 9 1/8" inches and includes partial production credits and cast list, promotional text, complete list of entertainment leading up to the screening including the WALT DISNEY cartoon "SEA SCOUTS" and the RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL ROCKETTES and wonderful vintage advertising. Includes a number of photos of scenes from the next attractions at New York's Radio City Music Hall, "GOLDEN BOY" starring BARBARA STANWYCK, ADOLPHE MENJOU and WILLIAM HOLDEN and the film "NURSE EDITH CAVELL" starring ANNA NEAGLE (shown in the scanned images) ..... CONDITION: With the exception of light creasing from exposure to moisture and minor edge wear, this rare program is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or classic film historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
