This striking midcentury ceramic ashtray was made in Norway by Krakeroy Keramikk, founded by Rangvald M. Soland at Bjølstad in 1945. The piece features a bold red and black color scheme consisting of concentric circular bands that alternate between red and black and are scored with sgraffito rays. The wide lip of the piece is finished in black and has four rests. L4

The ashtray is in very good condition with one chip at the bottom out of view. (See last pic) As a vintage item, the piece shows appropriate signs of light use. The piece is 8.625" or 22cm in diameter and stands 2" tall from the display surface to the top of the rim. The underside bears the stamped mark for Krakeroy Keramikk reading "KK" along with the words "HANDPAINTED IN NORWAY" and the hand lettered numbers "376/32". The item weighs in at 1lb 7oz.

This hand painted ashtray has terrific graphics and displays beautifully. The piece would be a marvelous addition to midcentury decor, or looks great on its own.
