Original oil on canvas by Irene Holdway. Fine artist Irene Holdway who also worked as chief textile designer at Liberty's of London during the 50's, was a fellow of The Royal Society of Art. The painting depicts flowers in a porcelain vase against a green background. The painting is framed and signed by Holdway on the stretcher frame and on the canvas in the lower right hand corner. 

This wonderful example of her work is likely from the early 50's and is in the original frame. The flowers look stunning in a bright room but is equally beautiful in the evening hours when the daisies come to life. This is a is a collectors item to anyone interested in flower paintings and textile art and not to mention mid century female artists. In the 1950's, Holdway' paintings fetched the high price of £40.00 which in today's equivalent is around £1600
