These set of two (2) wooden candlesticks / holders are from Africa.  They feature a triple braid twist and appears to be carved from one piece of wood (with the exception of the base, which is glued in place).  The wood is most likely ebony, but not sure.  The bases are every so slightly warped due to age and creates the tiniest wobble effect (they will balance out and still up straight and will hold a taper candle perfectly fine).
