Macaranga peltata is a plant found in northern Thailand, Sri Lanka and India. It is a resinous tree, up to 10 meters (33 ft) tall. Kenda leaves are commonly used for flavoring in Sri Lanka. Halapa dough is often flattened on a Macaranga peltata leaf to soak in the flavor. Macaranga peltata leaves are used to wrap jaggery and other sweetmeats. Today the major use of Macaranga peltata is for making wooden pencils and in the plywood industry.


How to make Halapa….?


Ingredients :-  All purpose flour - 500g

  Kurakkan flour - 250g

  Sugar - 500g

  Scraped coconut - 01 medium sized coconut

  Salt - 01 tsp

  Kenda Leaves – 25-30 nos

  Water - 01 cup
