Description:
This is an exceptionally rare and beautiful printing of "Where God is There God is Also", a short story by one of the masters of Russian literature, Leo Tolstoy. It has a firm string binding with a gilt passion flowers to front paper cover and gilt text block edges. This translation was done by Nathan Haskell Dole shown by his choice of the alternative title "Where Love is There God is also" rather than the contemportay conventional title, "Where God is, Love is".

Condition:

Near Fine Condition. Blue paper covers with gilt titles and vignette to front cover. Gilt text block edges. Previous owner's neat inscrption to title page. String binding is firm and pages are clean. Paper covers have minor edge-wear with minor bumping to spine and curling to corners. There is a notable crease to rear paper cover.
