Roger Danneels (Brugge (Bruges), 1927-1982) was a Belgian accordionist, composer, arranger and orchestra leader.
Danneels had an accordion school in Bruges and also a music shop in the Langestraat where he sold instruments and records. He worked with lecturer Willy Lustenhouwer, set Lustenhouwer's texts to music and provided the music for his one-man shows. Le Grand Julot played in the Danneels orchestra and Patricia Dee sang with it.
In addition to being an accordionist, he was also an enthusiastic player of the Hammond organ, an instrument that was extremely popular in entertainment and easy listening music in the '60s, '70s and '80s. Together with his organ and orchestra, Roger recorded many LPs, including fifteen LPs in the 'cocktail party' series.
The Bruges city festival Airbag was created in 2004 from Daneels' musical legacy. In 2006 his name was linked to the accordion competition 'The Big Cup Roger Danneels'.
