PARTISAN (1944)
YUGOSLAVIA
Joseph Broz, better known as Tito, was born in 1892 near Zagreb and became interested in the labor movement at an early age. In 1939 he was elected general secretary of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia and during World War II distinguished himself as the leader of the partisans. This guerrilla corps was the main resistance movement against the Axis powers in the Balkans. His name was Yugoslav People's Liberation Army and Partisan Detachments. Its members did not have a formal uniform, they used the enemy's clothing that they won in battle. They usually wore German or Italian prisoner shirts, the Yugoslav double-breasted double-breasted, ammunition belt and British boots.
