  • Both the Obverse and Revere sides sculpture designer was Frank Gasparro. Except for the 1776-1976 reverse side.
  • Obverse-side images: Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890 and died March 28, 1969. From 1953 to 1961 he was the 34th President of the USA.
  • Obverse-side inscription text: LIBERTY IN GOD WE TRUST 1977
  • Reverse-side images: based on the 1969 Apollo 11 space program mission patch designed by astronaut Michael Collins. He flew the Columbia command module around the Moon waiting for the moon walkers to come back. With a bald eagle's talons holding an olive branch as it is landing on the moon with Planet Earth in the moon's sky. 13 five-point stars. This design also honors that on July 20, 1969, Apollo 11 landed at Tranquility Base, the site on the Moon where humans landed and walked on a celestial body other than Earth for the first documented time.
  • Reverse-side inscription text: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA E•PLURIBUS•UNUM• ONE DOLLAR
  • E PLURIBUS UNUM roughly translates from Latin to: Out of many, one. It was the common motto from the USA seal from the late 1700's until 1956 when the motto officially became In God We Trust. This coin bears both.
  • The Ike Dollars were made from 1971 to 1978.
