This texitle is from France and dates form the late 1800's to early 1900's ~ C1900 a beautiful whitework hand embroidered cornelli lace work Chateau window length Curtain.Entirely hand stitched onto a fine Indian muslin ground and hand embroidered in cotton with trailing floral motifs worked in chain stitch. I love the many patterns these reveal~ This textile is elegant and rare ~ These curtains were highly popular in France in the 19th and early 20th century. Because they are so light , they do not often survive without signs of time and use ~ These curtains were most often used as bed hangings ~ This panel is all hand stitched!

MEASUREMENTS : This lovely lace curtain panel measures approximately 82 inches long by 25 inches wide at the bottom. The top where it is gathered measures approximately 12 inches across ~
CONDITION ~ this textile is in as found, not freshly laundered condition. There are a few pale marks and a small hole and some tiny holes ~ Please use the zoom feature on the photographs to view exactly ~ It's in quite good condition for these textiles ~ Signs of time and use often inherent in these wonderful textiles ~
