❗Rumbi are large storage chests shaped much like imported stoneware jars, which suggests a possible origin for the form. They have an ingenious locking mechanism as a pole can be inserted between the body of the jar and the lid to hold it shut. A longer pole can be inserted so that the rumbi could be carried. Rumbi were often decorated with a small singa figure to protect the contents from pests both real and spiritual.

‼Les Rumbi sont de grands coffres de rangement en forme de pots en grès importés, ce qui suggère une origine possible pour cette forme. Ils disposent d'un ingénieux mécanisme de verrouillage puisqu'une tige peut être insérée entre le corps du pot et le couvercle pour le maintenir fermé. Une perche plus longue peut être insérée pour que le rombi puisse être transporté. Les Rumbi étaient souvent décorés d'une petite figure de singa pour protéger le contenu des parasites à la fois réels et spirituels.
