This is possibly a Beautiful "Old Lady" Nampeyo of Hano Hopi Pueblo Pottery Jar. This piece is unsigned as were her early pieces, but the Yellow clay, lack of crackling, and the ancient Sikyatki pottery design that she is accredited with reviving is present in this pot. Here you see a stylized bird, perhaps the most common motif found in Sikyatki pottery, from abstract representational triangles to representational forms. Here the curving triangular feathers painted in burnt sienna serve as avian feathers.
