This boot is makes a great cross-trainer; the sole flexibility for running, even with reinforced arch protection.

The bumper is also reinforced & both make for better hazard (Roots & Rocks) protection when trail running. 

Of course a mid boot offers ankle protection and added stability. I have personally tested them.
