I acquired this piece from an estate sale. The former owner was an avid collector of all kinds of things. They loved bedding and I have sold a number of bedspreads and quilts I got from this sale already.

I'm not an expert on ethnic rugs, and have not authority to appraise or certify the origin or exact age of this beautiful piece of weaving. I know it's wool and I know his hand woven. I know it's compromised of two 24-inch strips that are sewn together. At first glance I thought it was Mexican or South American. Now that I've been down the Google rabbit hole, I'm leaning in the direction that it's Turkish in origin. But as a disclaimer I want to say I cannot verify that, nor can I date it.

All that being said, it's a beautiful piece of work with a great design. Unfortunately, it appears that somebody laundered it inappropriately and there is a bit of shrinkage which causes it to not lay completely flat. It has no other flaws, holes or worn spots and it's very clean. The colors are vibrant in their intensity. And that's all I can say about that 😉
