Allan Rohan Crite signed woodblock print "Lord Remember Me" circa 1955 depicts crucified thief and Christ. Dramatic presentation of Jesus Christ and the repentant criminal. The top half of the criminal's body and a portion of his cross are superimposed over the body of Jesus Christ. Jesus is crowned with thorns in loin cloth and depicted with painted halo in blue, red and gold crucified below the plaque inscribed "INRI." In the upper left corner in a rectangular cartouche is "Lord" in bold black letters. Extending along the bottom of the image are the words "Remember me" also in black block letters. 

Black ink on cream paper, painted with red, blue and gold painted. Framed in gilded wood frame, double matted.

Signed in pencil in lower right margin: Allan R. Crite; Artist's monogram in block in LRC

Condition: Not examined outside of frame. Please refer to all photographs for documentation of condition. Photographs shot in storage space with blue floor, white and blue walls which may be reflected in the photographs. 

Allan Rohan Crite (1910-2007) was an African American artist. Born in Plainfield NJ in 1910, moved with his family to Boston when young. He studied art at Boston Museum of Fine Art (1929-1946), and Harvard (1968). Crite was a student of Charles Woodbury. See article about the artist
