Found in an estate liquidation on Madeira Island Portugal, that of a retired antiques dealer.
Porcelain figurine of a Putti holding a baton. Most likely part of an orchestra, the conductor.
The figurine stands a tad shy of 5 inches tall and is finished with a matte glaze on the body of the figure and a glossy glaze on the base with gold detailing.
It has a blue back stamp. A five pointed crown over the letter "N".
Research revealed that this was a mark used by Carl Thieme, Potschappel, Saxony Germany.
Orchestras made up of numerous individual figurines was a popular theme used by this factory.
There are no chips or cracks, no repairs were found.
I have inserted a standard size playing card in one photo as a reference for size.
