Each Wayuu Mochila is unique and handcrafted by indigenous artisans of the Wayuu Tribes of northern Colombia using their ancestral technique. Passed from one generation to the other, every single bag recreates the life and beliefs of the Wayuu culture which is shown in the intricate patterns.

Based on a Wayuu legend, the tradition of making Mochilas comes from Wale' Kerü, a spider that taught women how to weave their creative drawings into the bags. It takes about 2-3 weeks to crochet a Mochila.

The mystic meaning behind each pattern, along with the incredible craftwork of each women make the Mochilas a wearable peace of art.

All Mochilas are unisex, very durable and light weight. The Macrame Strap is handmade on a loom which makes it very durable and non-stretchable. It is long enought to wear the Mochila either crossbody or as a shoulder bag.
