This is an antique coin which is an Austrian Emperor Franz II Hapsburg silver thaler coin which was hand made into a medallion pendant in Africa by Ethiopian metalsmiths long ago and comes from Ethiopia, Africa. This antique currency medallion has a lot of wear and the bail was completely worn through and pinched back together which just adds to this pieces character and history. Although the date is worn off the markings on the coin shows it is from the 1817 - 1824 time period. This very rare antique coin pendant measures 1.85 inches long (including the bail) by 1.58 inches wide. On a historic note: Franz II of the Holy Empire was also Franz I of Austria after 1806. Hence here the coin mentions Fransciscus I. The new territories mentioned on the legend, Lombardia, Venetia, Illiria, resulted from Wien Congress after Napoleon was defeated. I combine shipping on multiple orders so please check out my eBay store Mountainamma's Marketplace where I have thousands of items to browse.
