These two volumes are "must have's" for anyone interested in the history of Birdsboro, Berks County, Pennsylvania.

The first book, "Forge and Foundry: The People and Places of Mill and Furnace in Birdsboro, PA" , by Birdsboro historian Bruce Hoffman, is a trip back in time, to meet the people who lived and worked on Mill and Furnace Streets in Birdsboro, including a wealth of information on Birdsboro Steel. The book is actually Volume 4 in Hoffman's series, and is much like a walking tour of the two streets, following the history of one address after another, from the 1850's thru the late 20th Century, much as the author used to conduct the tours through the streets of Birdsboro.
The second book in this offer is a reprint of Hoffman's first three volumes of "Forge and Foundry", originally published between 1976 and 1992, and long out of print. The collected volume also includes a bonus section of previously unpublished photographs, which are not included in any of the original three volumes.
  • The books are 8 1/2 X 11 inches, printed on glossy stock, with lots of photos and illustrations. Both include an index to family names mentioned in the text. There were four volumes of the history altogether, and you get all four for one low price!
The books are brand new
