FROM MADEIRA WITH LOVE....!

 

Found in an estate liquidation on the island of Madeira in Portugal, that of a family with ties to Venezuela.  

Vintage mechanical, articulated advertising cigarette case and lighter combination.

To open the case, you depress the body of the lighter and the case pops open.  Once you have selected your smoke, when you close the case, the lighter is activated, all in one motion.

Offered untested.

Made of a good quality chrome, the cover has two engravings as illustrated....... Pinturas Montana (Paint) and Wantzelius Cia.

The lighter has three finishes.  A combination of a machined cross hatch pattern as well as a satin and polished combo.

There is no evidence of prior use.  There are however, some light surface abrasions and a few scratches, the result of kicking around in a desk drawer for decades. 

It measures approximately 4 1/2 inches by 3 3/4 inches.  In the hand it is weighty and has a feeling of quality.
