ORIG'L, RARE & VG+ Olive Drab Parka/Oversmock (Size Medium) #1 SALE PRICED!

This is an ORIGINAL "Olive Drab Cotton Field Parka", as the Army termed it, which was issued in the ETO during the waning days of WWII in Europe. The parka is described in Charles Lemons' encyclopedic reference work Uniforms of the US Army Ground Forces 1939-1945, Vol. 1, Coats and Jackets Part II at pages 104-122. The parka was intended to be used interchangeably with a white snow camouflage parka/oversmock worn over a separate parka liner, termed by Lemons the "Pile Field Parka, Type II".  The Type II liner is NOT included here, but is available in two of my other listings. The use of both OD and snow white outer smocks was based on field experience indicating that the use of reversible parkas resulted in soiling to the "white" side even when worn against the body. It also permitted the use of the functional liner for greater warmth than the traditional unlined reversible parkas. 

The oversmock, although without the QM label, has the size tag on the bottom hem indicating a size MEDIUM. The actual measurements of the parka are as follows: Chest armpit-to-pit 29.5"; Shoulder seam-to-shoulder seam 21"; Shoulder seam to cuff 24"; Waist 29"; and Overall length from hood to bottom hem 45".  The parka in VERY GOOD condition, aside from two small holes on the back and some minor soiling on the back of the right sleeve/shoulder area, depicted in the last two images below.
