Own a beautiful piece of history with this gorgeous antique English pottery pitcher. This buff colored stoneware jug is decorated in relief with scenes of an English Inn and horses, and text "Stop, Stop, John Gilpin! Here's the House", which refers to the story of John Gilpin whos horse ran off with him. The quality of the molding is wonderful and crisp with lots of amusing detail, and the handle is topped with a horse's head. This piece is marked on the bottom (as shown) and dates to the 1830's - 1854.

NOTE: Condition is excellent for the age of this piece, no chips, but is starting to show very minor cracks (please see pictures).
