A collection of colour illustrations by Clarence Coles Phillips (1880-1927), American artist and illustrator.  Phillips signed his work C. Coles Phillips, and, after 1911, simply Coles Phillips.

His images of stylish women and use of negative space were well known from their appearance in advertisements and on the covers of magazines including Life and Good Housekeeping.

His signature technique was the "fadeaway girl," in which a model's apparel disappeared into a same-color background, leaving her head, arms, and feet in sharp relief.  The reader's eye filled in the missing outline, and from a printer's perspective it was economical as fewer colours were required.

In 86 pages, in green cloth hardcovers with a pasted down picture, with the cellophane dustjacket. The Dustjacket: The original published cellophane dustjacket is present, with shelfwear. The Book: There is no shelfwear or handling marks. There is the very lightest of foxing to the first and last two leaves only. There is a previous owner's name to the front blank endpaper. All plates are bright, fresh and crisp - pristine. There are no missing, loose, damaged, stained, or creased pages. The binding and block are solid. It is complete and original.
