If you're looking for deep bass and volume, it's definitely advantageous to have a certain amount of caliber. The simple fact is that in order to drive a subwoofer with a larger diameter, it is definitely better to have a power amplifier with a larger output.

Furthermore, since the woofer uses piston motion to vibrate the air, it is essential to have a vibration isolation enclosure (woofer box) on the back. Furthermore, the design needs to be tailored to the woofer in terms of volume and structure. This is a subwoofer enclosure series where both the unit and the box are specially designed by the manufacturer.

The woofer has a highly rigid IMPP cone, a rubber edge that combines high rigidity and followability, and a high input double damper structure to achieve high linearity and drive with high efficiency and low distortion even at high output. Of course, the magnetic circuit that drives it also uses a large magnet and a 4-layer long voice coil to achieve powerful regular playback.

The volume of the enclosure is calculated to match the specially designed subwoofer, and the design takes into consideration body rigidity and acoustic characteristics, which is unique to the manufacturer. In addition, you can choose between upward/sideways installation for superior sound quality and sharpness, and downward (down-firing method), which utilizes the space between the floor and the floor to increase bass radiation efficiency and create a setting that emphasizes volume.

When installed facing upward or sideways, you can hear the sound from the front of the woofer unit straight through, producing crisp bass. When installed facing downward, you can enjoy deep bass and two types of sound quality by boosting the ultra-low range due to the radiation effect with the floor. Of course, you can change it depending on how you use it at the time, such as facing downward when placing your luggage.

■Subwoofers compatible with this series include the 30cm model TS-WX3030, 25cm model TS-WX2530, and 20cm model TS-WX2030. Generally speaking, the larger the diameter of a subwoofer, the better the response to the lowest frequencies and the sense of volume, and the smaller the diameter, the better the sense of speed and sharpness of the sound. We recommend choosing the caliber not only from the mounting space but also from the sound quality perspective.

■I want both speed and volume! For those who are interested, we recommend choosing two 25cm lengths.

■This series does not have a built-in power amplifier. You'll need an amplifier to play it. If you want to play only this woofer, we recommend the PRS-D800, and if you want to build a front + subwoofer system, we recommend the GM-D8400.
