What is the Solo Card Reader?

The SumUp Solo is the first standalone card reader of its kind—sleek and affordable with a lightweight design. Once your SumUp Account has been processed and verified by our team, you can use the device to accept credit and debit card payments, including Apple Pay and Google Pay.

How do I use SumUp and set up the Solo Card Reader?

We think setting up an account and card reader should be simple and uncomplicated, and we’ve made sure that’s reflected in our products and services. The setup process can be done entirely online, and instructions for setting up your SumUp Solo are available here.

Do I need a WiFi connection to take transactions?

Yes! The Solo device can accept payments when it’s connected to WiFi or using the built-in SIM card with unlimited data.

How do I send and/or print receipts?

With the SumUp Solo, you can send digital receipts at the end of each transaction. If you’d like to print physical receipts, the Solo Printer Bundle includes a portable receipt printer.

Which card types does the Solo accept?

All SumUp Card Readers and products accept major debit and credit card brands, and NFC payment options such as Google Pay and Apple Pay. The SumUp Solo Card Reader accepts both contactless and chip cards. You can find a full list of accepted cards here.

How much do payments cost with the SumUp Solo Card Reader?

With SumUp, there are no subscriptions, no monthly fees and no additional hardware costs. Just pay a flat 2.75% transaction fee on all in-person transactions, and that’s it.
