Vintage LECOULTRE 8 Day Musical Alarm Clock-Angel Fish

DESCRIPTION:

Vintage alarm clock.

By LECOULTRE.  Reference 2173.  Mechanical movement.  8 day wind.  8 day alarm with musical feature.  24 hour alarm indicator.  Gold plated brass case.  Thick lucite or acrylic front with reverse carved angel fish and bubbles in aquatic flora.  Reverse carved markers.  All original.   

Face markings:  printed "LeCoultre" and "8" and "T Swiss T".  

Case markings:  "LeCoultre Co. - Swiss - 2173".  There is additionally an "X" type stamp, presumably a date code.  

1960s I believe.

COSMETIC CONDITION:

Excellent original cosmetic condition.  No damage and no significant wear.  No restorations or repairs.  

No missing / replaced / non original parts.  

No engravings or personalization.  

No dents, dings, bends, scuffs, scrapes.  No nicks, chips, cracks.  No significant scratches or rubs.  No tool marks.  No significant edge wear.  No crazing.  

Very clean as found.  Untouched patina.  No corrosion.  No oxidation to speak of.  No finish issues.  From a non smoking home. 

Condition is consistent with gentle infrequent handling.

DIAL AND HANDS:

The dial and hands are in excellent clean condition.  No spotting, dust, corrosion, paint loss, discoloration or toning.  

FUNCTION AND MOVEMENT:

I recently acquired this clock and I am selling it as found.  I do not know its service history (if any).  For optimal function I recommend professional cleaning, lubrication and adjustment.

The clock and alarm wind and set normally with no issues.  The clock has been keeping good time and the alarm has functioned consistently since I have owned the clock.  

The musical feature is not working -- it is wound tight and non functional and will require professional cleaning or repair.  The non-functionality of the music mechanism does not affect the other functions of the clock.
