The leaf trivet has been designed by American metalware designer Michael Aram. Trained as a painter, sculptor and art historian, Aram has neatly applied his Fine Arts background to the decorative arts. His often witty work encompasses a variety of media and reveals the artist's diverse sources including nature, religious traditions, mythology and narrative stories. Each piece is hand cast, forged and finished, ensuring no two pieces are ever alike. Small inclusions in the surface are characteristic of the handmade nature of the work.
