Spintria (plural, Spintriae) -  Roman brothel token, featuring a delicate hand-distressed finish.

In accordance with Friedlander's (1886) proposal that the tokens were utilized for gaining entry to brothels, some scholars suggest that spintriae were crafted as substitutes for official coinage during exchanges. During the reign of Caracalla, an equestrian faced a death sentence for introducing a coin featuring the emperor's likeness into a brothel; his life was spared only due to the emperor's demise. Presently, with their numerical aspect, these coins serve as excellent gaming counters or tokens.

These coins showcases meticulously engraved and hand-polished details on the obverse, while the reverse boasts erotic imagery and inscriptions, all meticulously hand-finished to the utmost standard, achieving museum-quality craftsmanship.
