Content: For
hundreds of years, before availability of pencils and paper, monks used this
type of book to write lessons and sutras in. Board was used by
students in Buddhist schools in learning grammar, the holy text of the Buddhism,
and the art of calligraphy. They
smeared the board with ash and then write on the board. The writing would
remain for some time and they could recite the mantras later and/or rub it
clean and start over.
