From a family member's estate, we are able to offer a lot of souvenir-type photographic images of Hamburg, Germany.

There are two sets of photographs.  The first is a set of 11 small (approximately 2 1/2" x 3 1/2") cardboard photos/images of Pre-World War II Hamburg.  Based on the automobiles in the images, we think these date to the 1920s/30s or earlier.  Included are the following sites and scenes:

  • Bismarckdenkmal/Bismarck Monument
  • St. Pauli Landungsbrucken/View on landing-stage
  • Rathaus/Town Hall
  • Hamburg City View (bird's eye)
  • Jungfernstieg/Promenade
  • Uhlenhorster Fahrhaus/Ferryhouse
  • Binnenalster/Inner Alster
  • Alsterarcaden/Alster arcades
  • MonckebergstraBe/Monekeberg Street
  • Hauptbahnhof/Railway Station
  • Oberlandesgericht/Court
In addition, there is a souvenir fold-out series of photographs of the "12 der schonsten Ansichten von Hamburg" (12 of Hamburg's most lovely views).  The images are black & white and each is 3 1/4" x 2".  They are attached to an orange construction-paper type of folder (the initials K.W.H. are printed on the back of the orange cover).  They are not dated, but again we are pretty confident they are pre-WWII.  The following images are included:
  • Haupthahnhof (Central Train Station)
  • Lombardsbrucke mit Stadt (Lombard Bridge with City)
  • Jungfernstieg (Promenade)
  • Rathaus (Town Hall)
  • Michaelskirche und Bismarckdenkmal (St. Michael's Church and Bismark Monument)
  • Reeperbahn (Ropewalk - a strange translation from the online translater!  We know this is the red-light district....)
  • St. Pauli, Landungsbrucken (St. Pauli Piers)
  • Kehrwiederspitze Das Wahrzenhen des Hafen (Kehrwiederspitze the Landmark of the Harbour)
  • Elbtunnel (Elbe Tunnel)
  • Blick auf die neue Jugendherberge am Hafen (View of the New Youth Hostel at the Harbour)
  • Hagenbecks-Tierpark, Haupteingang (Hagenbecks Zoo, Main Entrance)
  • Grun ist das Land, rot ist die Kant, seiB is der Sand, Das sind die Farben von Helgoland (Green is the land, red is the edge, white is the sand, These are the colors of Heligoland)
Overall in quite nice condition with minimal wear and tear from storage over the years.  The orange cover on the fold-out images has some scribbling on the back and the word, "sound" in ink.

Let us know if you have any questions - thanks for looking and good luck!
