Genuine vintage Lisle socks, unsold shop stock, over half a century old but unused.  Short brown, school-type socks.   Plain knit, wool lined lisle mixture. Made in England in the late 1940s or 1950s. Hand wash only.
You can see from the many prices marked on the original shop labels, as the shopkeeper kept reducing the price in a vain attempt to persuade their customers to buy these old-fashioned socks, which were notoriously itchy!

Size:
These socks are marked in the old SOCK sizes (foot length).
Sock size (foot length) 8 1/2 inches.
This is roughly equivalent to UK shoe size 2.5 to 3 (older children's/small adult size).
These are very old socks, and they are not stretchy like modern ones.

Condition: Vintage socks, made in the 1940s.  Unused, and in good condition for their age, but clearly no longer suitable for ordinary use.  They might make a nice display or nostalgia item.  The staples which have been used to fix the price labels are rusty.
