Colombe eucharistique de style médiéval en cuivre emaillé et doré, XIXe siècle  ♦  Medieval style enamelled and gilt copper eucharistic dove, 19th century

La colombe eucharistique, ou peristerium, servait au Moyen-Age à conserver les hosties consacrées. Elle était suspendue au centre du ciborium qui surmontait l'autel. Reposant sur une base circulaire, cette colombe présente un décor d'émaux en couleur et les deux ailes sont articulées. La trappe sur le dos s'ouvre pour recevoir les hosties.

Eucharistic dove, or peristerium, was used in medieval churches to keep consecrated hosts. It was hung in the middle of the ciborium, over the altar. Set on a circular base, this eucharistic dove shows a coloured enameled decoration and the two wings are articulated. A flap in the back opens to receive hosts.

Very good condition.
