Set of Coffee/Espresso cup and saucer. The range, ‘Birds of Britain’ was the brainchild of Susan Williams-Ellis, designer and co- founder of Portmeirion Potteries. The beautiful and detailed illustrations were selected from 244 plates included in the 10 volume publication  ‘Natural History of British Birds’ (1794-1819) by Anglo-Irish writer and natural history illustrator, Edward Donovan. The range launched in 1977 and has since become highly collectible. The range was discontinued in 1997.
This cup and saucer with solid green band consists of the duo of birds: Long Tailed Tit and Flycatcher.
