This small coin was in circulation is Ancient Judea (Modern day Israel) when Jesus Christ and his Apostles preached the Gospels. Widow's Mites are referenced in the Scriptures several times including:

Luke 21:1-4

And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, 2 and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites.[a] 3 So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; 4 for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings [b]for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.”

Please note that this is a very very small coin. They are called "Mites" for good reason :) Widow's mites are getting harder and harder to find. Most exports of them from the Holy Land have ceased.
