Description
emperors, warlords, and edokko. Rome and Japan love baths

Mari Yamazaki's manga "Thermae Romae" became a major topic of conversation for its depiction of the attachment to "baths" that connects ancient Rome and Japan, and we too have come to know the public bathhouses (Thermae) of ancient Rome.

This book introduces the story of mankind's search for "pleasure" that fused the act of "bathing" with "entertainment" and sublimated it into "culture" with approximately 170 illustrations and documents, including the history of Japanese bathing culture from its beginnings, architecture and craft techniques that supported bathing culture, art works that decorated bathhouses, to the present day. This is a cultural exploration from a new perspective.
