  2. On the initiative of L. B. Krasin, the Joint Stock Company “International Book” begins to organize in Leningrad the industrial production of stationery, which until the post-war period was imported from various countries of the world for pure gold. In the four-story building of the former candy factory of A. N. Pylin (Ligovsky Prospekt, 166), the country's first production of stationery supplies was created, which soon received the name of L. B. Krasin. The plant has existed since May 11, 1925 under the name:The Leningrad branch of the 1st State Stationery Factory is under the jurisdiction of the International Book Joint Stock Company. In the same year, 1925, equipment was purchased from Germany (press machines Tümler, Albe-Werke, etc.) and materials for the production of stationery, and specialists were also invited. In 1927, in order to develop the domestic production of school and writing supplies, by Decree of the Government, the factory was renamed to the Soyuz factory named after L.B.Krasina. In 1936, new products were mastered: pen No. 36 of an improved type, rulers of the Iorisha type, sound measuring rulers of the Pozoev type. Experiments were carried out on the manufacture of a fountain pen, and working drawings were made of five different designs of automatic pencils. And in 1937, the plant mastered the production of fountain pens.
    Machine tools, cars, and presses were delivered to a warehouse located on Uglicheskoye Highway. This warehouse became the installation site for the future plant. In Leningrad, in the first months of the war, the plant organized the production of hand grenades of the RGD-41 and RGD-43 types. On May 17, 1944, the Soyuz plant began work to restore the plant. In 1945, they began to restore the workshops for the production of pens, ready-made instruments and slide rules.In 1961, for high production indicators, achievements in the field of aesthetics and production culture, by decision of the Leningrad Regional Council of Trade Unions and the Leningrad Economic Council, the plant was awarded the title “Enterprise of High Culture”. The production of steel feathers was transferred to Yaroslavl.
