Description: Black Panther, the 2018 Ryan Coogler Marvel Comics Africa comic book superhero science-fiction (sci-fi) action melodrama ("Long live the king."; "From the studio that brought you 'The Avengers'"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Chadwick Boseman (in the title role as T'Challa/Black Panther), Michael B. Jordan (as Erik Killmonger), Lupita Nyong'o (as Nakia), Danai Gurira (as Okoye), Martin Freeman (as Everett K. Ross), Daniel Kaluuya (as W'Kabi), Letitia Wright (as Shuri), Winston Duke (as M'Baku),Angela Bassett (as Romonda), Forrest Whitaker (as Zuri), Andy Serkis (as Ulysses Klaue), and Sterling K. Brown (as N'Joby). Note that this was the first major studio movie based on a black African American superhero, and it was hugely successful, becoming the first movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to have an opening weekend's domestic box office receipts surpass the production cost of that movie! Sadly, star Chadwick Boseman passed away in 2020 at the age of 43 from colon cancer, and Marvel Studios announced that they would not recast his part, instead making a sequel centered around a different character.
