Church.

18th century Ethiopian Coptic Ge’ez
Bible. 180 vellum leaves bound in hand-stitched leather over wooden boards.
Handwritten in black and red ink and illuminated with three full-page miniature
paintings in vivid full color.
The leaves are vellum (calfskin),
prepared by a lengthy exposure in lime, scraped with a rounded knife and
finally rubbed smooth with pumice stone. The vellum is often scored with a pin,
and they are written in black ink with titles and holy names often being in red
ink.
Condition:
Good condition
for its age. In worn condition with evidence of aging and storing. Please, see
